Title R&D Manager
Job Information

The R&D Manager leads a team of employees in conducting research and development. This may include investigating technology development, concept development, existing models and new models development. The R&D Manager oversees this process and suggests recommendations to the organization’s leaders.

The R&D Manager oversees the daily activities of a team of employees who research designs and concepts. Help develop a budget for the plan and ensure that the team is working within that plan. Also ensure that goals and objectives are being met.

Design existing models:

  • Detail examination of existing parts.
  • Advise on more economic substitution parts (but maintain relevant technical spec.)
  • Selection of suitable suppliers for substitution parts.
  • Development schedule of agreed parts.

    Design new models:

  • Concept development discussions with marketing/sales and R&D Germany.
  • Finalized concept specifications/discussions/approvals.
  • Development plan – BOM, cost, etc…
  • Production of detail design drawings.
  • Procurement procedures with suppliers.
  • Parts components/prototype testing specifications and procedures.
  • Operation test procedures.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical from any recognized university is required.
  • Minimum 10 years working experience; at least 5 years in electrical appliances industry in design/R&D (preferred in water heaters).
  • Computer literacy in MS Office packages required; additional skills advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills and trouble shooting. Superior problem solving skills, as well as excellent leadership skills.
